Engine light

Hi!
I have a Pontiac Transport 1994 with approx. 390,000,000 kilo.
The problems is that whenever I step on it to go fast on take off the engine light comes on and it will not go in overdrive.It also feels like the transmission is slipping it has no guts.
This problem just started on this van I also have a Chevy Lumina van 1993 and it has the same problem.

Can anyone tell me what this could problem could be it will be grately appreciated.
