My 2001 Honda Civic w/ 122,000 miles w/ regular maintenance has a phantom issue. About four weeks ago I was on the freeway in normal conditions 60-70 MPH and I lost most of the throttle power to just 1500-2000 rpms at full peddle throttle with an uneven idle & a check engine light on – I pulled over turned it off and sat for 10 minutes. I tried starting it and it ran fine but the check engine light was still on. I had it towed, just in case, to my mechanic and he hooked it up to his machine to get the maintenance codes which yielded nothing so he cleared it, inspected the car and sent me on my way. Well it’s been four weeks and today it did the exact same thing as last time. I had it towed to my mechanic again and they inspected everything (fuel filter & pump was his best guess but it is fine w/ correct pressure) and still no codes on their machine. The check engine light is cleared and the car runs fine right now but I can’t trust it anymore for the commute. Has anybody had a similar situation before? Is there anything I should look out for or maybe tell my shop to look out for? Thank you for your time.

. Check/replace the distributorless ignition coil.
. Check MAP-Barro Sensor.
