Cambelt replacement on modern cars

How critical is it that the cambelt is replaced on a 6 yr old rover 25. Its not mentioned in the owners manual.

If it's an interference engine, it's very important. Normally, timing belts should be replaced every 80,000 to 90,000 miles or 7 years, whichever comes first.

Thank you. I believe it does have an "interference" engine.....where the valves could hit
the pistons but this 6 year old car has only 41000 miles on and is driven sedately by a
74 year old guy...................me.
