I have a 94 chevy 1500 truck that lost all power today. It won't turn over but?
Our 1994 Chevy 1500 stopped running last night. We have lights, power it just won't turn over. Found the distributor cap broken this morning. Replaced that and it still won't turn over. What else could it be? Fuel filter and pump replaced 2 yrs ago.

If the distributor cap broke, check the rotor carefully for damage.

    Perform the tests below:

I'd focus on the Ignition Control Module (ICM).

We can smell fuel so we are assuming that there isn't any blockage in the injectors. He replaced the cap and rotor. We got the ICM and will be trying that. Hopefull that will fix the problem.

You likely smell fuel, due to the spark plugs not firing. There's a good chance replacing the ICM will solve the problem.

TxGreaseMonkey - thank you for the information and help. It runs now! So happy because he just got a new job that is not within public transportation access.

Rotor, distributor and ICM replaced. He test drove it Saturday evening and it just stopped again. Found a lose wire, secured it temporarily and it started and stayed running long enough to get it home. He worked on it again yesterday, siliconed the wire, checked to make sure there were no broken pieces of the old distributor in the side the vehicle and reinstalled everything. Let it run 10 - 15 minutes in the driveway and then took it for a sohrt test drive. Ran fine. Now we just hope that it stays that way - does not stop running when he goes to work. Thanks again for the helpful information.
