fuel injecter or fuel pressure regulator ?

I have a 1996 gmc sonoma (zr2 package) with a 4.3 motor (engine code W). I sometimes have problems getting it started, when the motor is warm it starts without any problem, but when it is cold i have a hard time getting it started, if i put gas or starting fluid down the throttle body it starts right up. I have been told that this could be either the fuel injector or the fuel pressure regulator. Would appreciate any help.

Several thoughts:
1. Change the fuel filter.
2. Install fresh ACDelco plugs.
3. Use 5W-30 synthetic engine oil.
4. Add Shell Regane or Chevron Techron to the gas tank to clean the injectors and throttle body.
4. Learn to start your SUV in two steps. Step 1, turn the ignition key to ON and wait for the fuel pump to turn off--it should be in about 2 seconds. Step 2, turn the ignition key to START. This process fully pressurizes the fuel rail first and should help the vehicle start easier.
