fuel filter for 6.2L Diesel

I am having a problem with my 1987 Chevy truck with the 6.2L diesel. I have a 2008 Dodge Ram with the cummins so I am not very familiar with this old truck. I just had all the electrical gone through...starter, battaries, all of the cables including wireing through the firewall to accesories...the truck stared and ran fine for the 5 min ride to my house. I plugged it in, as it is very gold here right now, two days later it stared right up, I let in run for f10 min or so then drove about 1/4 mile...up a hill, at the top the truck died, like it was out of fuel, both tanks are full and after considerable time and effort I got it started agian, drove down the hill to my house let it run a while the drove out the other way...about 1/2 to a hill, at the top it died again...any ideas what the problem could be? I have not changed the filters, in fact I do not know exactly where they are? Thanks for any help!

Begin by draining any water from the fuel system and changing the fuel filter.
