F250 Diesel Starts but but won't go

My son's F250 Diesel quit moving last night in the middle of a busy street. It was still running and all lights etc still worked, but the instrument cluster was not working, and when he pushed on the accelator the engine would not rev. Any help would be appreciated.

So, It wouldn't do anything at all? The rpms didn't move at all when he pressed the accelerator?

Well, that blows my theories out the window.

There is a guy here Txgreasemonkey and he is very very good at diagnosing problems. Hopefully he will see it soon.

. Check all under hood and under dash fuses with a test light or multimeter:

. Check the ignition switch for wear, pitting, or melting.

Could be your fuel filter is clogged, when was the last time you changed it ? If you use bio diesel that can clogg a fuel filter faster. I change my fuel filter on my Land Rover 2.5TD 110 same time as oil filter.
