| I would file a claim against whoever changed the oil and filter last. It appears, to me, that the old oil filter's gasket stuck to the engine block, when the filter was removed. Then, the new filter, with its gasket, could not properly seal. Oil gushed out and the engine is likely damaged.
To help prevent this from happening, the gasket is supposed to be coated with engine oil. Still, it's the mechanics responsibility to account for the old gasket and ensure it doesn't stick to the oil filter seat. Basic stuff. |
