how much of the dash in 1999 Dodge1500 P/U has to be removed to locate a/c componets

to access the electric motor that controls the a/c and or heater door under the dash of my pickup ,how much of the dash actually has to be removed,and where do you start the removal process at exactly? i am informed as to preparation requirements regarding neg.battery cable removal.,first and attention to safe guard airbags from deployment. can anyone advise me of steps to take in what order to locate this little motor?
