| Coolant in Honda Crankcase I somehow managed to get an gallon oil bottle with used antifreeze on the shelf with the gallons of new oil. When changing the oil today, I managed to put about 1/2 cup of antifreeze in my crankcase before I smelled it.
I gave it about 20 minutes to drain to the pan and then drained it thoroughly and filled the engine with the appropriate amount of oil. After running it warm for half an hour there is no foam on the dipstick or discoloration that would indicate water in the oil.
So, would there be enough residual propylene glycol in there to worry about? Will I be replacing bearings in the engine next week?
My debate is: do I do an engine flush and risk damaging seals on my 121,000 mile engine? Or, do I give this a week to boil off any remaining water and do another oil/filter change next weekend? Or, do I flush it with #1 diesel? |
