Check Engine Light

This afternoon the engine light in my 2002, 6 cylinder Chrysler Sebring lit up. The car to me felt like it was about to stall but did not. The oil, transmission and radiator fluid levels are all normal. Has anyone on the site had a similar experience? Is it wise to drive it to the shop or tow it in?

Thank you,
Gary

Attach a code reader or scan tool to the Data Link Connector, under the dash. Your CEL came on, due to the PCM (computer) throwing one or more codes. The codes have to do with emissions. Make sure the gas cap is tightened securely--it can trigger the CEL coming on. It's likely safe to drive to the dealer for servicing, if it's just a Check Engine Light. An oil light coming on would be another matter.
