| Grabby tread design (e.g., Metric) can significantly affect the steering wheel. Another prime culprit is Lateral Runout (LRO), caused by the axis of the spindle and the axis of the disk being off. This often comes about during a brake job, where disks are turned to the axis on the lathe, not the axis of the spindle. I would only use a Procut Machine, if I determined my disks really needed turning. Many shops automatically do this and set in motion a series of brake/steering problems. When the axis are off, brake pads and disk are no longer true, causing the steering wheel to shake as brakes are applied. Finally, steering wheel shake can also come about by tires being out of balance. |
