95 Honda Civic will not start

I have a 95 Honda Civic. When I turn the key to the # 1 position, the cel does not light up. It will light up only when key turned all the way and attempting to start the car. I have checked the Alt (s) 15amp fuse and it is fine. I am thinking that it is the main relay but do not want to purchase another if it is not. Please help me out. This is my only veh and it is very much needed. There is spark! And you can hear the fuel pump engage.

Since you have an OBD-I Civic, you can't use a code reader to check for codes. Here's how you do it for your car:

Be very thorough when you check the fuses, since it will save a lot of time and money.

My 1995 Honda Civic was running and when I put it in drive it went forward but then it cut off and now it won't start. I will turn over but it won't start. I have checked all fuses inside and outside. What else could it be.

Could this problem be the cylinoid wire in the transmission? Everything else is checking out. Ignition, relays, fuses, all ok

No.

Have you checked the ignition switch for wear and pitting? Did you check for any codes?
