95 Eagle Vision Doesn't Start Sometimes...

We have a 95 Eagle Vision that won't start sometimes and dies while we're driving occasionally. It's not the battery or starter or fuel pump. We've had a mechanic look at it, and he thinks he's narrowed it down to one of three different sensors (or perhaps the whole computer), but doesn't know because it doesn't save the codes (just barely too old). Every time we take it to be fixed, it works, so he can't do anything. We even had to pay to have it towed and then when it got there, it worked. Grrrr. Yesterday I spent hours stranded with a toddler because it just wouldn't start. Has anyone had this problem before? Is there anything we can do figure out what to fix? Is it hopeless?

thanks, schmara

Try checking for loose connections at the distributor and condition of the cap and rotor. Also check the EGR valve. Some symptoms of a bad EGR valve
are the motor dying while slowing down or dying while at low rpm as in idling.
Also make sure there is not a short in the starter or starter solenoid.
