94 firebird transmission shifting trouble

I have a 94 firebird with the 350lt1 in it I just got it back from having the motor rebuilt there was nothing wrong with the tranny when I took it in but when I got it back it won't hardly shift. If you are going slow it won't shift at all you have to kinda push the gas hard and then it will shift. Can't find anything that is not unhook either. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks Cindy

Take it back to the people who did the motor and ask them to fix it PLEASE. There is a chance that the detent cable to the trans may be out of adjustment.

On carburated autos the detent cable runs from the carb linkage to the automatic transmission, and controls the trany shifts in relation to the throttle. Your 94 is a fuel injected model and might not even have a detent cable. Wait to see if txgreasemonkey sees this post, he would know for sure. The point that I was making is that the engine people failed to adjust everything properly, and it is their job to correct it.

Agree with Dr D. I do not believe there is a transmission modulator valve on the 94 Firebirds to control shifting, so it has to have a linkage. Should be an easy adjustment for them to make.

If you do, in fact, have a modulator valve, that's where I would focus--they are a common replacement item. Also, ensure the modulator hoses are in good shape and not leaking vacuum.
