93' Honda Civic Stalls

My 93' Honda Civic has been stalling lately. It started a couple of months ago when it first started to get cold. Also, i notice that it stalls most often when it is cold. When the problem first occurred, I tried using fuel injector cleaner every time i filled up my gas tank. However, the fuel injector cleaner did not solve the problem, so i stopped using it. Usually, before it stalls, the RPM's will start jumping around until they drop to 0. A couple of times, my rpm's dropped to 0, and my car continued to drift, but when i pushed the gas, nothing would happen. However, after drifting for a couple of miles with 0 RPM's, my RPM's would randomly jump back up to 2000, and i could continue driving. On the other hand, sometimes when my car's RPM's drop to 0 it automatically stalls, but everything else still works (radio, windsheildwipers, lights, heat etc.) Sometimes after it stalls, it does not want to start again, but if i let it sit for a couple of minutes with everything turned off, it will start again. I have taken it to two shops, and both do not know what is wrong. They could not duplicate the stalling. However, the first shop cleaned my throttle body and suggested the problem could be caused by a throttle position sensor. However, i drove around with the TPS unplugged for a few days to see if that could be the problem, and it still stalled. The second shop also could not duplicate the problem, and since it stalls most often when it is cold, they told me to bring it back when it gets cold again. The car has 145,000 miles on it but my fiance replaced the motor in May. The new motor has about 75,000 miles on it. My fiance changes the oil and oil filter regularly. The car had a full tune up when the motor was replaced. Do you have any idea what could cause my car to stall?

I believe your Ignition Control Module (igniter) is bad. Because of the age and mileage on the vehicle, have the coil and rotor replaced also, while the distributor is opened. Make sure to apply silicone grease to the back of the igniter, before installation.

Decent prices on these parts are obtainable through RockAuto.com.
