93 civic ex problem

I have a 93 civic ex that stalls intermittently, you're going along and the car just dies. Trying to restart it fires and runs for about 2 seconds then dies again. You can hear the fuel pump running before starting. After a few tries it starts and i am on my way. It has happened while driving and first thing in the morning in the garage. I'm totally lost.

Could be a lot of things, including a bad connection somewhere. Perhaps start with the main relay under the dash. Replace it or resolder the connections. Then check everything from the battery to the key to the distributor and coil. Also check the battery ground connection to the body and engine. Make sure everything is clean and tight.

On and off, I had a similar problem with my old truck. For a while I wired an LED into circuits including the fuel pump. Never found the problem that way. Finally, I let it set and idle until it stalled. Carefully checking things, I found bad connections in the fuse box. I removed the riveted together parts and added solder. Truck has run better since I did that over a year ago than it had for years. You may have a similar although not the same problem.

93 civic ex problem

Car finally died completely, got it to my mechanic and discovered the ignition switch was intermittent. Keep the key in start position and the car would stay running.
