| The first thing you need to do is refill the master cylinder reservoir with brake fluid, even before you drive the car again. Fill to the Max Line on the reservoir with an approved brake fluid. Make sure it's safe before driving again; otherwise, have the vehicle towed.
To lose all of the fluid in the master cylinder reservoir, you obviously have a leak somewhere. Look for a fluid leak around the master cylinder first. Next, check the disc calipers and wheel cylinders. These kind of situations generally develop from not changing the brake fluid every 2 years, as Honda recommends. When you regularly change the brake fluid, you remove sludge and debris that damage the seals, replenish the fluid's lubricity and corrosion inhibitors, and get rid of moisture and air in the system. Regular preventive maintenance greatly extends the useable life of brake components, especially on ABS systems. |
