92 Ford Ranger 2.3L

Anyone, what problems does the Check Engine light going on usually indicate? I was coming home tonight, about an hour highway drive and the light momentarily came on, then off, on and off. Not a flicker, but for several minutes at a time. Truck is VERy reliable and there is no indication that anything is misfiring.

Thanks.

Possible problems are many. It would be good to check for any codes being thrown. Minor possibilities range from a loose gas cap to an intermittant Oxygen Sensor problem. Coil and plug misfires are also common and give you a "heads up" that a problem is developing. The computer senses these problems long before you can.
