91 crx fuel pump prblems

If anyone can give me what they know regarding fuel pump info on a 1991 civic. When you turn the key to accessory position you used to be able to hear the pump come on in the fuel tank. The alternator recently died and i do not hear the fuel pump any longer. The battery is bran new and charged I already fought to get the relay out and have confirmed that it works.I want to know if anyone really can help me out as to removing possibly the fuel pump or how to test it for sure I would be greatly appreciative for your time

Thank you

David

Proper ignition system evaluation begins by answering three basic diagnostic questions:

1. When you turn the ignition switch to ON (not START), does the Check Engine Light (CEL) come on and then go off after 2 seconds? If not, the problem is with the ACG (ALT) (S) fuse, in the under-dash fuse/relay box; ECM (perform the K-Test, below); Main Relay; or the Ignition Switch. Perform tests in that order.

2. When the CEL goes out, do you hear and/or feel the Main Relay "click"? If not, repair or replace the Main Relay.

3. During the 2 second interval that the CEL is on, do you hear the fuel pump in the gas tank run? If not, check the fuel pump.

Jump main relay connector terminals 5 and 7, turn ignition on, and listen for the fuel pump. If you don't hear it run, then there truly is a problem. Remember, relatively few Honda fuel pumps fail. In fact, I have never seen one, even though many people, at first, suspect they have one.

Be sure and test all under-dash and under-hood fuses with a test light or multimeter. Here's how:

Particularly, focus on the ACG (S) (ALT) fuse.
