Is there a easy way to find out if a battery is dead other than buying a tester? Thanks Paul

Are you unable to start the car?
If the battery cables are clean and tight, but the car won't start, try operating the horn and headlamps. If the horn and lights work OK, focus on the starting system.
I hope this helps. Let us know.
