2005 GMC Sierra 2500HD Duramax/Allison 4x4 Surging

My truck is surging when you are coming to a slow stop between 3 MPH and 0 MPH. It feels like badly warpped rotors and the brakes are just gripping the high spots but my brakes and rotors are good. My GM Dealer has confirmed that it is not my brakes, they do not think it is the transmission, so the have been checking the engine's fuel system and injectors. So far, they have replaced 1 injector because it was injecting double the amount of fuel it was supposed to and the told me to add diesel fuel conditionner. So far, the surging has diminished but it is not gone. Has anyone gone through this problem with their Duramax ? What causes the surging ?

Thanks for any response !

Hi this is Macksmom's husband....I have been a GMC mechanic for years....

With the duramax engine there have been MANY problems with the injectors and in my experience it is very seldom just one. There is a big long scary test that has to be done to each injector which is very time consuming (techs are paid flat rate and hate anything time consuming)

We have to fill out a flow chart of how many cc's of fuel each injector flowed over x seconds of cranking.

i would take it back to the dealer complaining of a hard start condition and EMPHASIZE that you want an injector test be done and ask for a copy of the sheet they fill out...(you are covered under warranty up to 200K I believe)
