2005 Chevy p/u

Hi,
I have a 2005 Chevrolet 1/2 ton p/u and my check engine light came on. Question is where do I start with the diagnosis on my truck? And can I reset the light on it also and how?
Thanks

Have a scan tool or code reader attached to the Data Link Connector under the dash, normally near the steering column, and check for any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
AutoZone will do this for free and will be able to turn the Check Engine Light off.
