2004 Pontiac Grand Am Security system

I have a 2004 pontiac grand am and it seems like everytime i go to start it ... it gives me problems . sometimes it sounds like it wants to start but it just wont fire... then the other time the security system light flashes at me and wont do anything .. I learned how to reset that but i was wondering if there is anyway to get that repaired? and with the sometimes wanting to start i had a starter put in it oct 07 so i dont know what is going on with it. I thought that maybe someone who knows cars could give me some advice before i end up going to spend 500$ at the shop. When the car sometimes wants to start the security light is steady on when driving. I just assume go put a automatic car starter in the stupid thing and hope it starts every time!?

But any comments would be very helpfull..

thanks

Factory Security System?
You should ba able to have that diagnosed at the dealer for a nominal fee. Usually about one hour flat-rate.
I would NOT recommend installing anything untill that issue was resolved. It could be as simple as a new key or a bad fuse. Check all the fuses and try your other key. POllibly a weak battery or abad cell in the battery.

the problem is with the ignition cylinder which you can do it yourself which would save you about 250 to 300 dollars or take it to a gm certified dealership (pontiac) this problem is very familiar with gm cars because the gm factory takes the lowest bids for parts and they happened to pick a bad batch of cylinders. for sure though this is a easy fix if you know what your doing.
