    2001 dodge ram 1500 just won't start
Hello. We have a 2001 dodge ram 1500 and we just returned from a long road trip and had no problems with it whatsoever.

The next day it just won't start. It turns over and sounds like it's going to start but won't. At first we thought maybe a fuse. Now we're thinking fuel pump?

Thought I'd throw it out there and see if anyone has any ideas before we take it into a shop.

    Thanks

. Check all under-dash and under-hood fuses with a test light or multimeter. Here's how:

    . Check for codes.
. Turn the ignition to ON and determine if you can hear the fuel pump run for several seconds.
    . Check for spark.
. Have Autozone test igniter and coil for free.

DTC code on 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 [ 2 Answers ]

My Power Programmer for my truck tells me that I have a DTC code of P0420. I believe it has something to with the catalyst efficiency being below threshold. Do I get a dealership to fix this crap, or can I get the tools and materials to do it myself?
