    1999 Ford contour
ZHow do you get the alternator out oa a Ford Contour. My husband has the tire off and has it jacked up but still can't get to it. Is there a trick? He say that there is no room to turn the wrench and the screw are not located on the top.

He may have to remove the right-front wheel and remove the plastic wheel well liner(3 or 4 screws and several plastic pins). On some Ford's, like my 2000 Taurus, the sub-frame must be dropped and the crankshaft pulley removed. Hopefully, that's not the case on Contours.

. Ensure the car is on jack stands!

. Disconnect the negative battery cable, before working on the alternator.
