1998 honda Accord starter problems

I have the same problem with my 98 accord as was posted many months ago and wondered if anyone had solved their problem.

I just tried to start the car and altho the starter could be heard spinning, it didn't engage the ring gear and so the engine didn't turn over. I have removed the the starter motor and don't see anything wrong with the splined shaft teeth, so am lost as to what the problem is. The battery is good; the starter motor is turning over so it's not a relay thing, and I'm used to thinking "bendix spring" on american starters, but so far haven't found anything like that system on this honda. Any help would be appreciated.

I would replace the starter, due to the fact that the overrunning clutch assembly is probably shot.

Thank you for the reply. I have pulled the electric motor off the starter and when I got it out realized that there must be more. Since I used to be a silent partner with "You Fix it Honda" I had them ship me a used starter and it arrived today. I wonder if I have to remove other parts from the engine ( hoses and tubes in the way) in order to get the whole starter off? Thanks again for your help.
