1998 ford truck repair

I have a 98 ford f-250 truck and the battery light comes on but doesnt stay on will go off after about 2-3 miles of driving it. I have checked the battery cables and they are tight and the battery is in good shape. Also when you turn the heater on you hear this clicking noise from under the hood and also when you hold the passenger window button down you hear that same noise from under the hood. I am boggled can anyone tell me whats wrong??
