Hesitates into gear is possibly low fluid or worn seals internally.
Clanging noies? Hmm, a little harder to pinpoint that. Mounts? Cracked flywheel? Any number of things... Can yo ube more presice as to when the noise occures?

it make the noise as you start to accelerate after shifting into drive. it settles down after you reach a steady speed, but is still there, just not as loud.

Does the noise change with engine speed or does it stay with road speed?

Or a wheel bearing, but you need someone to listen live to really determine.
