1994 Ford Probe transmission

I have a 1994 Ford Probe with a 4 cylinder and automatic tranmission. Recently it developed slipping in reverse only. When I put the transmission into reverse it will not engage until you step on the accellerator, and then it "bangs" into gear. When the engine is cold, and at a higher idle the transmission goes into reverse, albeit slowly. Forward gears seem to work fine. Any ideas?

When your tranny starts to slip it is 99% of the time the reverse that acts up first.
Your tranny is going. It might be best to take it to a GOOD transmission shop and have it checked.
Take it for two or three opinions and estimates cause I know plenty of rip off tranny places and
only two good ones
