1992 Honda Civic - Tramission/pickup weak

1992 Honda Civic - Tramission/pickup weak

My wife's 1992 (118,000 miles) Honda Civic's transmission is acting oddly. It will be VERY sluggish in drive when strating from a standstill UNLESS she shfits it into thelowest gear and progressively upshifts. ANy ideas?
