2001 Toyota Tacoma can't start

Just happened this morning. When i tried to start my car, it couldn't start. The engine had sounded like trying to start. It didn't work. Then i tried again after 5 mins. It started but i could smell some gas so badly even i closed the windows. During that time I was a fraid, I just turned it off. Maybe the weather i guess because today is dropped to 62 degree. (yesterday was 70 something). I really don't know what happen. Please help any SuperCarMan out there.
