1988 jeep cherokee

For some reason my truck those not what start at all i turn the key and nothing happens i have full power and sometimes if i mess with the gears i put it on N then back to P and then P, i do that for a couple of times and then turn the key it turns on if its on N.then i turn it off i try to turn truck my on nothing happens this time the engine well turnover but it will not turn on, if i wait and do the same thing over liked the next day it will work. Sometimes it starts right up with doing nothing at all please help

It sounds like something in your shifter is loose. You need to get it fixed quick cause I had the same problem and then it broke and I couldn't shift it at all and had to have it fixed in my driveway since it could no longer be started and I can't afford a tow truck.

check your neutral safety switch. or that is what I can best suggest from what I could get from your post.
