1979 toyota 4 cylinder

rephrasing last question...motor runs when primed..fuel pump can be heard , sounds like its working??? when take fuel line off after pump...no visible fuel coming out????any ideas of what it might be??

Have you changed the fuel filter?

no, however, no fuel is coming out of the line prior to the filter..which is located up near the carburetor...

Bet a check valve popped in the fuel pump. Bet if you put a pressure gauge on it, you won't get much.

Bet it's fuel pump.

Similar kind problem. Car would not climb big hills. It would stall. Fuel pump. Check valve popped out.
