| where do we go from here?
We are still in the "talking about it" phase, and right now we are trying to find out everything we can, but feel we need a little outside feedback/advice/do`s and donts etc. this would be the first time either of us has done anything as drastic as this...,,
We are planning on moving from northern ireland uk, to canada, but also we are planning on setting up a bussiness over there too.
we know it would be a huge move, but we are both very much up for the idea, and we know it wont happen for a while yet.
the plan is, we go over to canada various times over the next 2 years or so, and go look at the areas we are interested in, spend around a week or 2 weeks there at a time, and just get a general feel for things. we have friends in canada, in one of the areas we have been looking at.
In a nutshell, we currently own a home, we got it valued last year, it needs a few small things doing to it before we could sell it, (a lick of paint here and there, get the garden finished, etc) with the valuation we got, we could sell our house, and have enough to buy the house in canada, plus have money left over in the bank.
I am realistic enough to know it cant be as simple as it sounds, so has anyone actually done it? has anyone from the uk successfully set up a bussiness in canada? what kind of things do we need to consider before doing this? what about the visa/work permit side of things? would we have to live in canada a certain amount of time before we could work etc?
