Hello big:

Which direction should you take????? I dunno... But, it looks like YOU already know which direction to take.

I've been in business many times and never had a clue how to start. But, I just started at the beginning and started solving ALL the problems that came my way. That's all management is anyway, is solving ALL the problems that come your way.

Looks to me like your first step, as YOU'VE outlined, is getting your permits. Go down to the office that issues them, and ask lots of questions. They may even have pamphlets available on how to get the licenses you need. Then you just follow the trail that is going to be laid down for you.

All business's need good accounting. Hire a CPA familiar with the trucking business. I'll bet HE can tell you exactly where to go and what license to get.

Then you need a truck. Go buy one. Need more money than the bank is going to lend?? Ok, cool. Go borrow it or find people who want to invest in you. It really doesn't matter which one you find, because they're all going to want to know the same thing. You're going to want to know the answer to this question too:

How much are we going to make - and when do we make it?

You're going to need to tell 'em. You can tell 'em formally in a business plan, or you can tell 'em informally on a napkin - I don't care. You need to do a little projecting. 5 years - 10 years would be good. How do you project??? Your CPA will show you.

Ok, you got your truck and your licenses. Now you need some customers. Go knock on their doors and show 'em your brand new shiny truck.

Yes, I've simplified it. But, it really isn't much more difficult than that. All you gotta do, is do it all, and even more.....

PS> You can buy business plan software for about $50.
