Mop and Mop Bucket with Ringer if Needed for Your Style of Mop
Cellulose Sponges
Small Plastic Bucket
Lots of Soft Rags
Paper Towels
A Broom
Small Hand Tools, Such As a Hammer and Screwdriver, in Case Some Screws Are Loose or Nails Are Popping Out of Things
In the UK there may be an issue if you have people who are working for you. I would check with an insurance person concerning that.
Two people to clean one home at a time is usually enough.
I'm not sure of how much to charge for a home cleaning job in the UK. Where I live, which is Rock Island, IL in the USA, I know that professional cleaning companies that hire people to go out and clean homes usually charge over $20.00 per hour and give their employees about half of that. So, where I live if you charge anywhere from $11.00 to $15.00 per hour for a job you should be okay.
Remember to get liability insurance and carry the proof of that with you whenever you have a new customer in case they ask to see proof of that.
You will need to advertise your business. Hang your small "shingle" out wherever you see a public bulletin board where business advertising can be placed. Grocery stores, quick mart type places, bowling alleys, etc.
Always carry business cards with you and bring up your business in casual conversation.
Advertise in the business section of your local phone book.
Advertising on the Internet does not have to cost a cent. I have been doing it for over two years. I have hundreds of ads on the Internet. They are all free. I get the most results from my Internet advertising.
In a Google search, try typing in Quad Cities Piano Tuner, Piano Tuning Quad Cities, Piano Lessons Quad Cities, Handyman Quad Cities, Quad Cities Wedding Musician, Clough Quad Cities, and see what happens. Almost everything that you see on the first three or four pages will be my ads. And, these are not the only things that I advertise for in the Quad Cities. I live in Rock Island, IL which is part of Iowa - Illinois Quad Cities. If you look at any of my ads you will know how to word yours. Keywords are essential to bring people to your ads.
In this paragraph, I am going to type in something that will lead people to what I am typing on this site right now who are located in the UK. It will be for a home cleaning service. This site gets excellent coverage in Google, but it is not to be used by the members for advertising. Let's see, how about United Kingdom Cleaning Service Maids. Or, just United Kingdom Cleaning Service People might want to search for something like that. It should be only a matter a 2 - 3 days before it starts appearing in the first couple of pages in a Google search. Might even be first.
