Title, author of childrens books from more than 20 years ago.
I had a really cool teacher in fourth grade - I think he was like 180 - or at least 80. He used to read us these books about a bunch of friendly animals living in the forest together, and they'd talk to each other and go on adventures. I loved them so much that one day I found a big bin of them at Wal-Mart of Long's or whatever and begged my Mom to buy me some - but now they're gone and I can't remember the titles or authors of any of them. There were quite a few, and it always seemed like the hero of the forest was a stag. Please try and help me remember if you have any idea!
The teacher's name was Mr. Banner and this all took place in Sutter Creek, CA.
Could it be the Animals of Farthing wood? This had a Great White Stag that rules over the animals.
No, that's not it. I'm sorry I can't think of more information! This is so frustrating... I do remember that it was a big series, with dozens of novels, not of great length. And the covers were a solid color border with a painting of the animals on the front.
Oh, and there are no humans in these stories. It's just the forest animals.
I saw that, and it was unfair. Many of the people with specialized knowledge dislike the reputation system here. It has little to do with how good of answers people are giving. What I dislike the most about it is somebody posts a answer long on caring but short of facts, and then another caring person approves it. While it is true many people don't deserve the reds they get, there are far more undeserved greens.
Look at the people answering question in E&L. I was very happy when tkrussel joined. He knows far more than others posting there. I leave all the unanswered questions hoping he answers. Yet he only has 2 green boxes and others, including me have more. Most of the time I stay out of electrical unless I see an answer from somebody that knows less than I do. tkrussel can't answer every electrical question as soon as it posted. Perhaps if we have another good man, there will be fewer unanswered questions to tempt the unknowing. We have some people that feel they need to pounce on a question as soon as it is posted whether they should answer it or not.
Have you posed this question to the librarian at your local library, especially the children's library? I wish I had the answer you seek, but looking in different places - logical places - could lead to an answer. Other places could be your school's library, a used bookstore, a bookstore that deals in older books or an antique store.

Someone else answered this for me on Yahoo Answers. It's Thornton Burgess. But man, I can't believe how many people on both this site and the other one just posted to my question without any answers! Stop getting people's hopes up, if you don't know anything - don't say anything!
Man, I can't believe how many people want answers without putting any work into finding them. If you don't want to work for your answers, don't ask them!

If you are looking for information on the Thorton Burgess series of books, try contacting the Thorton Burgess Museum in Sandwich, Massachusetts (it is on Cape Cod). It is a quaint little museum.
