I read this book years ago, and cannot remember the name of it:
A woman begins to receive anonymous phone calls that she eventually realises are coming from Hell, or the devil. There is no one on the other end of the phone, only a silence that is evil. No one will help her and eventually she gives in to the inevitable and goes off in a red van, presumably straight to hell.
