Hello all! I've been abundantly blessed by my virtual coffee chats with so many of you in this wonderful forum on Books and Literature! (The Relationship forum is fun too, but this is where inspiration comes from... "the stuff dreams are made of" )
Anyways... We all have favorite quotes, quotes that have touched a chord in our hearts and minds, quotes that have influenced our decisions, inspired us to go that extra mile, give us courage to face the day, and shown us what real living is like.
Lets share these divine inspirations with our little world here - on this little posting. I'll start with one of my all-time favorites....
Being a star-gazer myself and being the proud owner of a tempestuous personal history, this is one of my favorites - it reminds me that no matter what is swirling around me at a given time, I can get through it.
"The most tempestuous wind cannot disturb the quiet of the stars."

“You can shed tears that she is gone,
or you can smile because she has lived.
You can close your eyes and pray that she'll come back,
or you can open your eyes and see all she's left.
Your heart can be empty because you can't see her,
or you can be full of the love you shared.
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday,
or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.
You can remember her only that she is gone,
or you can cherish her memory and let it live on.
You can cry and close your mind,
be empty and turn your back.
Or you can do what she'd want:
smile, open your eyes, love and go on.”
Sometimes being a friend means mastering the art of timing. There is a time for silence. A time to let go and allow people to hurl themselves into their own destiny. And a time to prepare to pick up the pieces when it's all over.
-- Gloria Naylor
All the art of living lies in a fine mingling of letting go and holding on.
-- Havelock Ellis
I'm not afraid of storms, for I'm learning to sail my ship.
-- Louisa May Alcott
A chord, stronger or weaker, is snapped asunder in every parting, and time's busy fingers are not practiced in re-splicing broken ties. Meet again you may; will it be in the same way? With the same sympathies? With the same sentiments? Will the souls, hurrying on in diverse paths, unite once more, as if the interval had been a dream? Rarely, rarely! ~Edward George Earle Bulwer-Lytton
"False hope is still hope."
- a silly quote used in my house in naughty context concerning the desire for "intimate moments" and the many failed attempts that occur with a young child running the home. for ex "hes still asleep. want to slip into the bedroom? sure! false hope is still hope!"
"Wealth belongs to those who create it"
- not to get all capitalistic with this one, its more about finding the power in yourself to enrich your life with what you choose for yourself. wealth in happiness, in health, in security, etc... can come from within even when outside sources block your way. all you can do is all you can do.
"You are obstinate and always wrong"
- a quote from a fortune cookie my wife gave me from her meal. she didnt understand why i was upset when she gave be her prized cookie half dipped in chocolate and i pulled the message out.
"Absence of proof is not proof of absence"
- lots of ways to spin this. the scientist in me uses this to understand what we know compared to what we believe or what we dont understand. obvious spiritual overtones can be seen as well.
I'm in a Gilmore Girls mood today... fits well with the current "Whack-A-Chicky" state at work....
Lorelai: Michel - the phone!
Michel: Yes. It rings.
Lorelai: Can you answer it?
Michel: No. People are particularly stupid today. I can't talk to any more of them.
_______________
Luke: She's not here yet.
Lorelai: Okay! Well, you'll have to entertain me 'til she gets here. Ok Burger Boy, DANCE!
Luke: Will you marry me?
Lorelai: What?
Luke: Just looking for something to shut you up.
_______________
Babette: Oh, and just you wait 'til spring. You're gonna wake up one morning, walk out, and pow - color coming out of your yin-yang! I'll see you girls tomorrow. [goes into her house]
Lorelai: I'm going to have color coming out of my yin-yang.
Rory: Good then, finally you'll be able to keep a man.
