Quotes that have influenced your life

Hello all! I've been abundantly blessed by my virtual coffee chats with so many of you in this wonderful forum on Books and Literature! (The Relationship forum is fun too, but this is where inspiration comes from... "the stuff dreams are made of" )

Anyways... We all have favorite quotes, quotes that have touched a chord in our hearts and minds, quotes that have influenced our decisions, inspired us to go that extra mile, give us courage to face the day, and shown us what real living is like.

Lets share these divine inspirations with our little world here - on this little posting. I'll start with one of my all-time favorites....

Being a star-gazer myself and being the proud owner of a tempestuous personal history, this is one of my favorites - it reminds me that no matter what is swirling around me at a given time, I can get through it.

"The most tempestuous wind cannot disturb the quiet of the stars."

Literary wishes and Shakespearean dreams,
HistorianChick

Anybody can become angry - that is easy; but to be angry with the right person, and to the right degree, and at the right time, and for the right purpose, and in the right way - that is not within everybody's power and is not easy.

My hope is to learn this and understand it so that my anger becomes healthy and hopefully one day, gone.

Your_Conscience disagrees: You should follow your conscience as it will always haunt you if you seek revenge because you are angry which is against your God and his rules
HistorianChick agrees: Balancer.... umm.... the whole point of this quote on anger was recognizing how to control it and take control of being angry.... Not a good use of a reddie.

(For K)
"It seems to me that trying to live without friends is like milking a bear to get cream for your morning coffee. It is a whole lot of trouble, and then not worth much after you get it."
~Zora Neale Hurston

(For me)

"Why does it take a minute to say hello and forever to say goodbye?"
~Author Unknown

"May the road rise up to meet you, may the wind be ever at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face and the rain fall softly on your fields. And until we meet again, may God hold you in the hollow of his hand."
~Irish Blessing

"The reason it hurts so much to separate is because our souls are connected."
~Nicholas Sparks, The Notebook

"A man never knows how to say goodbye; a woman never knows when to say it."
~Helen Rowland

"Fare thee well! and if for ever,
Still for ever, fare thee well."
~Lord Byron

Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened.
~Theodor Seuss Geisel, attributed

Friendship improves happiness, and abates misery, by doubling our joys, and dividing our grief
--Joseph Addison

The glory of friendship is not the outstretched hand, nor the kindly smile, nor the joy of companionship; it is the spiritual inspiration that comes to one when he discovers that someone else believes in him and is willing to trust him with his friendship.
--Ralph Waldo Emerson

We enjoy warmth because we have been cold. We appreciate light because we have been in darkness. By the same token, we can experience joy because we have known sadness.
--David Weatherford

Everywhere I go, I am humbly reminded that no matter what obstacle is placed before me, I never have to look too far to find someone less fortunate than myself, that I can lend a helping hand.

“The best doctor in the world is a veterinarian. He can't ask his patients what is the matter -- he's got to just know.” ~Will Rodgers

“A doctor can bury his mistakes but an architect can only advise his clients to plant vines.” ~Frank Lloyd Wright

There were 5 of us....so Mom didn't even take the time to call out the name...we just heard her talking some sort of language awfully loudly....we each ran in a different direction and the dogs in the neighborhood started to howl.

( I am on the way to the lost and found...hopefully someone was kind enough to return my mind )...Hey, that could be another one.

so...I had to actually "pick" my name when I was in 3rd grade...as my teachers couldn't say my real name (i'm one of dem forners). so I picked my first name.

Then, another kid in my class (another wonuvdem forners) had the same name as me...so I had to pick a middle name so school records wouldn't confuse us.

...I picked a letter. Literally. My name is Sneezy B. Fun (not really, but you get the picture).
