Boris Vian?

I read a book a long time ago (in French), I think it was by Boris Vian.
I can't remember much except there was a mother and she had babies or small children who were kept in a cage and who could fly.
Another (perhaps the same book) story was about a very surreal bus ride.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

Before you tell me to research Amazon or a Boris Vian site...I already have.
I have researched this time and time again with no luck. I am starting to wonder if I have the wrong author?
