Looking for a Story About a Monk

Hi, Everyone,
How are you? When I was a child, someone told me a story about a monk who realized that there are many small animals around him, namely bugs. He decided to stay in the temple all the time because he did not want to go outside and step on any bugs by accident. Near the end of the story, someone tells him something, but I cannot remember what. I think this is supposed to be one of those inspiring stories about doing certain things in life.

Is this a real story from somewhere or is this a case of false memory? Thanks!
Victor Ly
