    Tongue piercing
I want to get my tongue pierced and was wondering if there is any thing that I need to do to prepare for it, and can they deny you a piercing if your tongue is too short?:o

You do know of course that you are going to have a speech impediment for a while and there have been reports of massive infections occurring in the mouth even after a year.

With all that said, just a warning of possible side effects, just make sure the parlour you go to has a good reputation for cleanliness and inspect a few before you pick one. And most of all, think this through very carefully.

If your tongue is too short you won't be refused a piercing, but you may be advised against it depending on which parlour you go to.
Your probably looking at couple of months of swollen tongue and maybe left with a slight speech impediment.
Ask a pharmacy to recommend a good quality, alcohol free mouthwash to use to rinse your mouth after meals and try to avoid spicy foods for a couple of weeks afterwards.
Check out hygiene certificates for the parlour you use. (they must be legally displayed on the walls) ad ask for reputational advice.
Other than that there is nothing to prepare for. Just brace yourself for the nip on your tongue and keep it small to start with (less chance of your tongue swelling dramatically if its small)

To me, the tongue piercing didn't hurt. But if your tolerance for pain is not very high, you can take some Motrin an hour before getting it done, to reduce the chance for pain.

After you have it done, steer clear of solid foods that first day. Eat lots of ice (to reduce swelling), and if you get hungry enough, eat something like jello, pudding, ice cream, etc. If you try to eat anything solid you are going to bring yourself to tears. Also, you can take some ibuprofen to reduce swelling and pain.

The piercing will take 4-6 weeks to heal, but the severe swelling should only last about 1 week. I have mine done and don't have a speech impediment, but I guess every individual person is different.
