    Reasons on a piercing
Hey, recently I decided I wanted my ear pierced. Something simple, just the lobe. Im 16 and my mom is some what against it. Does anyone have a good reason to get a piercing?

Sorry, I don't. That falls under the "wants" category in life rather than the "needs."

In a couple of years you can go out and get anything pierced.

I have to agree with Emland. Respect your mothers decision. You can always talk to her about it though my dear.

    Good luck

I'm 16 also and I wanted to get my ears pierced. Here's what I did.
I sat my mom down and asked why she isn't okay with piercings. After I listened to her I made a deal. I said if you let me get it done it will teach me responsibility. I'll have to clean it and take care of it. If not it'll get infected which is a punishment in its own. She still wasn't hearing it. So I told her that I would save up the money to pay for it and I'd do extra chores for a month. And she said yes. I don't know if it will work on your mom but I hope it does.
P.S. tell her it will boost your confidence.

I follow Em's and Rockabilly1955mama's advice. Respect your Mother's decision. While sooverit_81 has a point - who would have taken care of all the medical bills if your ears had become infected?

Listening to your Mom's answer maybe hard to do, but pushing yourself on her is not showing a level of maturity that you want your Mom to see.

Haha. I suppose I never had that problem, because when my mom wouldn't let me get my seconds done professionally I just told her I would do it by myself. That usually works.

The pressure in your ears are causing too much pressure on your brain and if you do this it will relieve the pressure and you can think better.

Not much of a reason, but she may laugh so much she will let you.

I have no problem with them myself, so not sure why she is against them

I think this is a wrong advice... Once pierced, it may releve the pressure at that time will you guaranty the pressure will not be bacK? What the next time? And then after that?. Human life is becoming more complex day by day... if man has to get relieved of his pressure by pierced, then there won't be any space left on the human body... :) .

Tattoo and pierced are the 2 things which will last long... at least pierced holes can be filled after some years but, not the Tattoo...

I my viewpierced ppl. are the once who are in doing it out of depression or drug addicts..

P.S. : You may like something today but, you can't guaranty that your taste will not change in the coming years if not days... so, don't trouble your body... try to groom yourself in other ways and look smart.

The OP asked for reasons to get pierced. Fr_Chuck gave him a reason, jokingly I'm sure.

Karth- Im pretty certain Fr_Chuck meant to make the joke that there was actual physical pressure on the OP's brain that needed to be relieved. I think you're confusing his post with peer pressure:p

Say mom it is the 21st century and girls and boys are treated as equals so why not be allowed to pierce the ear?
