Navel piercing [ball on top is going INTO my skin!]
I got my navel piercing a week or two ago and I cleaned it as I was told and in the beginning it was fine but now the ball on top is starting to go inside. My friend said just keep pushing it up from the bottom and keep clearing it, and make sure you tighten it.

It's also itching really bad and the hole is getting bigger, kind of enveloping the ball, letting it get inside more.

Why is it trying to go inside? What can I do to help it?

I tend to sleep on it, bend down a lot and tend to wear tight pants where the button of the pants are on top of the piercing.

    What can I do?

I would go have it checked out. I would remove it at night. Make sure you keep it clean. But please go have it checked out.

I too, would suggest going back to where you got it pierced and have them take a look at it.
I'm assuming from your description and from what your friend told you to do, that you got it pierced with a barbell, which should have been a curved barbell since it's in your belly button.
I would push the barbell up while you clean it to make sure the ball is out of the hole, clean the hole and actual barbell then move it up and down, this will clean the inside of the piercing as well, then make sure you rinse it VERY well.

I would seriously avoid wearing tight pants until it is fully healed... this may be the root of your problems. If you are wearing tight pants that push the piercing in, that is probably what is causing the ball to go into the hole. Wear low rise pants, where the waist line will be below the piercing.

I know it is only a week old, but how swollen is it? The barbell going inside the hole could be either an illusion caused by severe swelling, or it could be rejecting.

I agree on the fact that you need to go back to the piercer. If it is just caused by swelling, you need to have him change your jewelry to a ring. It should have been pierced with a ring in the first place to avoid this type of thing. If it is rejection, you may just have to take it out and let it heal.

Along with wearing looser jeans as was said before, you also need to wear long shirts to avoid your shirt bottoms from getting caught on the barbell.

Belly button piercings are one of the most prone piercings to irritation and infection. Some of the things that you wouldn't think would effect it actually will. Be very careful with it, and remember, only touch it when you clean it. Don't sit around and play with it because that will just make matters worse. When you clean it, make sure your hands are clean. Dirty hands will also make matters worse. Good luck and let us know how it turns out! :)

It sounds as if your navel piercing is migrating. Possibly your skin is hypersensitive to the metal used, and that combined with the strain it is receiving from tight trousers, it has not healed properly. Migration can lead to rejection! Go back and see your piercist. They will inform you of what to do next, and will change the jewelary if they feel that is the issue.

For now, don't wear tight trousers during the healing process, keep cleaning it and don't panic! All should be well! Oh, and don't remove the piercing until the piercist has looked at it! x:)

    This just happened to me,
They priced too much skin so the bar is pulling into the skin because there is no room for it to stretch
Your going to have to take it out let it heal then go to a different place to get it done
If you don't get it fixed the ball will create a bigger hole then there should and it won't heal

Don't worry, the exact thing happened to me and I was freaking out :$ so I decided to go see my piercer an he told me the piercing was too small, the actual wire thing was too small so he put in a longer one and now everything is MUCH better! So don't worry, go see the piercer and they'll help you out :) hope I helped and I hope your piercing turned out :D

Don't worry the same thing happened to me so I went to my piercer and he told me that it wa too small so the top ball was putting a lot of pressure on the skin, making it tender and much harder to heal. So he replaced it for a bigger one and now everything is going perfectly :)

The same thing is happening to me, this is my third time having my navel pierced and it still isn't going right for me the ball has eaten the skin away around it and is sinking into the skin more everyday I also think its migrating at the same time so should I take it out and how long should I wait to get it re-pierced?

I had that happen to me as well. My piercer put in a ring that was too short and the ball was sinking into my skin and there were no signs of infection. But then he gave me a longer ring (a spiraly one) and now it looks infected! I don't want to take it out, but I'm not sure what to do. Now there is a large hole in my.skin under the longer ring and I don't know how to keep it cleen! Help!
