How does getting your tongue pierced feel? And does it hurt?
Hey. I'm 16, (17 in sep) I'm considering getting my tongue pierced on Tues 3rd August (2010) but I just want to know stuff about it. I've got my tragus, belly button, ears and the top of my ear pierced. The one that hurt the most was the top of my ear, except I heard my tragus crunch. ''/

But I have a low pain threshold. And Im really scared that I'm going to swallow the ball, or it's going to go through an artery or something..

Can I have some advice please :)

You can search this topic in Body Art and see what you get.

If you have a low threshold of pain I would not recommend you get your tongue pierced. There are all sorts of horror stories of this procedure going wrong. You could Google Tongue Piercings Gone Wrong and see what you get.

Also, please take into consideration that you will be constantly bashing the insides of your teeth with the metal ball. Dentists just love this as it keeps them in business repairing all the teeth that get chipped and broken. Hope you have plenty of dough for the dentist. You'll need it.

Also tongue balls are very annoying to witness when a person is talking. Highly distracting to older people. If you go for a job interview and are constantly clacking away - don't expect to get hired for ANY job.

For another, you are too young to do this. And tongue balls are going out of style now. The same goes for tattoos and multiple body piercings. At least with a piercing you can stop putting something in the hole and the holes will eventually grow shut. Tattoos are forever unless you want to pay a small fortune to get them removed which hurts WORSE than when they were originally applied.

Find another hobby to keep yourself occupied.

A more experienced piercer will cause it to hurt less as they put the needle through more quickly.

I have mine done and I love it. It didn't hurt but if something had gone wrong, it would have hurt and seriously hurt me. I swallow the balls all the time and once I swallowed the bar.

These piercings require A LOT of work to keep them from becoming infected during the healing period, and some time after. Unless you are ready to care for your tongue like it's a new pet, I would not recommend this.

The swelling after the piercing though, now THAT is painful

I just got my tongue pierced a week ago today. I can't handle pain at all but it honestly wasn't bad. Getting my belly button pierced was worse. It will take about 2 or 3 days before you can eat without it hurting. I would say go for it (:
