    Does cartilage piercing hurt?
I really want my cartilage piercing by needle done but watching videos on YouTube it looks really really painful, is it? Also what do I do if it gets infected and what are the chances of it getting infected? I have my ear lobe pierced 3 times and only my third one was really painful afterwards and they get infected every now and then as I did it myself. Will this add any chances of it getting infected if I have it done? Also roughly how much is it to have it done? Ooh and is it better to have a hoop put in or a normal earring?
    Thanks

I had it done once by needle, and once by the piercing gun. Personally, I prefer the piercing gun because it's much quicker. Depending on where you live and what location you're interested in having it pierced at, the price varies. Many places will charge you solely for the cost of the earring (anywhere from $30-$60).

The level of pain is really determined by the mindset you go into it with. If you go in feeling a little apprehensive and having second thoughts, it will most likely hurt more. On the other hand, if you go into it feeling like you can tackle the world, it'll be a breeze! Just make sure you go when you're feeling the most confident, and try not to get yourself worked up over it. Also, stop watching those YouTube videos!

The cartilage is a little veiny, so I highly suggest you have it professionally done to avoid complications and sensation-loss. Wherever you go, they will most likely give you a little care package on your way out. This package includes an antiseptic, which should be used a couple times a day with either a cotton ball or a q-tip. Knowing you're prone to infections, make sure you ask whoever's doing the piercing plenty of questions about hygiene!

    I hope this helps!

I got my cartilage pierced when I was 11 and I was EXTREMELY scared because everyone told me that it could hurt for up to 6 months and that it would be very painfull, but I can tell you that they were exaggerating. I got it pierced with a needle and it only hurt for about 2 days afterwards. Also, in some places they will only let you use a hoop. They said you would have to wait 6 months before you put a regular earing in and then you could come back and they could put it in for you. Well, I only waited three months and took it out myself and it was fine, but it did bleed a little. I recommend going to a proffessional place (I went to a tattoo parlor). The place where I went didn't give me a package, they just gave me instructions that told me how to clean it with salt water. Just make sure you don't pierce it right before you are going to play sports for a long period because you are supposed to leave it in for a few months and sometimes in sports you will have to take it out. Also, if you get a hoop you are supposed o turn it once a day so it doesn't get stuck in place and mine never got infected. Hope this helps.

I just had mine done, three days ago (A basic Cartilage piercing). They used a gun to do it, it was painful for the second that gun goes through then it just feels kind of Hot and as the days went on a little itchy as it heals. So I'm saying all of about 1 second of pain then its no big deal and I am not one for pain, so if I can handle it, I think most people could do so too. Hope that helps anyone considering getting one.

It was so easy I could do it 10x... but I won't :P
