I would suggest not, since there is a possibility while healing of infection in your body cavity (pleural sepsis). This could be dangerous because the center of the umbilical scar can be thinner, weaker or connected to the interior of your body. Some "outie" navels are umbilical hernia, which can be very dangerous to pierce because they may involve intestine.

It is worth the wait. After pregnancy, many a navel is a better subject. Your body will change over time even if you do not get pregnant, and may allow for piercing in the future. I suggest that you give it some time for a better result

Well, I can personally answer this one. I may not have an outie, but my innie has a tiny knot at the core of it that kinda pokes out like an outie. I suppose it wanted to be an outie, but couldn't grow large enough. I had a wonderful bunch of friends who wanted all of us to get our navels pierced. They suggested I pierce the knot-thingie in mine. The piercer was a bit reluctant but he went along with it. Now my navel has a dangle literally hanging from my bellybutton. So yes, if my funny bellybutton can be pierced, I'm positive most outies can. However, even tho mine has healed perfectly doesn't mean all can. Some outies are actually different skin fixtures so it can vary. But to answer the question, yes an outie can certainly be pierced.

You can pierce an outy but not the bump itself, you will eaither have to pierce the skin above or below it , but they still look as nice. Ashiiboo you only need to clean the piercing once in the morning and once at night. Clean it with salt water that has been boiled but cooled rinse with normal boiled but cooled water and dry thouroughly. then i would suggest using tea tree oil on it. i would do this for a minimum of 2 weeks. This is what i did and mine didnt go infected compared to some of my mates. Hope you find this usefull.
