Plumber from Boston gives advice on Ask Me Help Desk (by massplumber2008)
    First published: May 3, 2012

Hi guys! My name is Mark and I wandered into the ASKMEHELPDESK.COM site by chance one day with a difficult electrical question. I am an experienced plumber, so I presented my log-in name as massplumber2008 so the electricians on site would know that I’m from Massachusetts (U.S.A.) and had trade experience under my belt. To my surprise at the time, my question was answered in a timely manner and it was answered correctly, so much so that I implemented the recommendation and passed an electrical inspection using the advice the next day.

In return for the excellent advice I had received, I decided to stick around and answer a few questions based on my years of plumbing experience. Well, I answered a few questions and then I answered a few more. Over time it became clear that I was enjoying answering the questions and helping others at the same time. I guess it’s just in my nature and I guess someone else noticed because I received a message from the plumbing expert of the plumbing page who asked me if I would be interested in sticking around to help him field all the plumbing questions on the page.

That was a great day because it was the day that I was introduced to Tom, otherwise known as Speedball1 at the site. We’ve been answering questions on a daily basis together ever since and we have a blast doing it! Tom is the senior plumbing expert and is an 85-year-old retired master plumber with about 50 years in the trade. I have a small plumbing business in Boston, Massachusetts, and have a little over 30 years’ experience. Combined with Tom’s experience, I have to tell you that there is very little that we haven’t installed or worked with in the plumbing field. On this site, we have fielded literally 1000s of questions about faucets and valves, 1000s of questions about bathroom and kitchen drain issues, and 100s and 100s of questions about proper drain and vent piping arrangements. We have fielded questions from all over the world including America, Canada, Israel, Africa, South America, and all over the UK!

Over the last four years, we’ve also been joined on the plumbing page by some other knowledgeable licensed plumbers including Milo (MiloDolezal) and Lee (Mygirlsdad77), and some knowledgeable contractors and handymen including Bob (Ballengerb1), Harold (Hkstroud), Brian (MA0641), John (Jlisenbe), and John (Afaroo). When everyone on the page combines their years of experience and their passion to help others, you can be sure that you will end up getting a well-thought-out and knowledgeable answer to your question(s). Tom, Bob, and I check in a few times every day and the others check in almost every day so we can be sure to answer questions as a team as fast as possible. I encourage you to pop into the ASKMEHELPDESK.COM site and sign up so that when the day comes that you need any advice, especially any plumbing advice, you’ll be just a single click away to getting serious answers to serious questions!
